Tunbridge Wells Mountaineering Club has around 120 members, about 30% of which are women. Most members climb, but there is an active minority which prefer walking. The club is somewhat unusual in that under-18's are accepted (15-18), subject to parental consent, though restrictions may sometimes apply to unaccompanied minors attending certain types of away meet (eg Alps trips above the "Bergschrund").
The club meets on the second Wednesday in every month at The Junction Inn in Groombridge, from around 8pm. Usually there's a slideshow and some social chat, trip planning etc.
During the summer months the club climbs every Tuesday and Thursday evening (if fine) on one of the local sandstone outcrops.
There's an away trip at least once per month, to a craggy or mountainous region of the UK, or occasionally abroad.
