It's full steam ahead for our next production - "The Merry Wives of Windsor" - to be staged at Easter 2011 in the Sackville Theatre, now part of the new Performing Arts Centre at Sevenoaks School. This follows the outstanding success of our open-air production at The White Rock Inn, Underriver in July 2010 of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
Following exhausting 10th Anniversary celebrations in 2007, we paused in 2008 then delivered a stunning production of "As You Like It" in the open-air in June/July 2009 at Underriver.
In 2008, we presented a piece specially written by Ray Russell, on the theme of "Who Was Shakespeare" which was first staged in the Sevenoaks District Drama Festival and then as part of a Drama Triple Bill in the Sevenoaks Summer Festival.
For 2007 (our 10th anniversary), we staged two productions - The Merchant of Venice (April, The Ship Theatre) and The Taming of the Shrew (July, White Rock Inn, Underriver) Please see the relevant pages for further details.
We aim to promote enjoyment & understanding of Shakespeare's works.
Our activities include:
- full-scale productions
- occasional play-readings
- guest lectures when we can
- theatre trips
- workshops
- Twelfth Night Quiz Night
and periodic other social events.
Education & understanding are emphasised themes, so as well as individual membership, we offer affiliate membership to schools & societies.
Based in Sevenoaks but drawing our membership from across the District and across all walks of life, from teens to nineties, we have something for everyone.
Annual individual membership costs just £12 for adults and £5 for students who want to be 'Performing Members'. Non-performing Senior Citizens membership is just £5. Reductions apply if joining more than half-way through the year.
