***** Term starts Monday 6th September *****
Singing for Fun is a Crowborough based ladies choir who enjoy singing a wide range of music from choral work to songs from the shows, Gershwin to McCartney, Gilbert and Sullivan to Simon and Garfunkel. It performs 3 main concerts a year to raise money for charity and also sings at other events. At our 2010 summer picnic concert we raised £850 for Hospice in the Weald.
The choir has recently gone through a change of music director. Over the last seven years, under the direction of Mark Mortimer, the choir size increased it numbers to 70 and widened its range and complexity of repertoire. Mark Beesley took over in January 2010, bringing with him a wealth of professional singing experience, and he continues to build on the choirs strengths.
In 2008 we moved out of our comfort zone and the choir entered the Sevenoaks Festival achieving 1st place in the adult choir class with a distinction grade....A highlight for us all! We repeated this success in 2009.
Emphasis is put on enjoyment and we work in a relaxed but productive manner. Our members come from Crowborough, Uckfield, Heathfield, Tunbridge Wells and other surrounding villages. Social events are organised for members including quiz nights, concert trips and social get togethers.
